Name of youth council: MIFCS-Leaders of the Future Youth Council

Structure of youth council: 5 council members and a potential committee.

Mission statement: To meet the needs of youth of native origin who are making transitions in the urban community and empowering aboriginal youth to increase their vested interest in society. We also like to motivate each youth in culturally suitable facility and provide guidance, referral services and counseling. Educational, recreational, cultural and spiritual activities are available to teach, learn and pass on to our community.

Activities: Involvement in all youth center and other community youth agencies to create healthy communication with all who work in the youth field.

Fundraising: Monthly dances, membership fees ($1 each fiscal year) concession and selling crafts from workshops.

Events: Cultural Exchange Potlatch, BCAAFC quarterly meeting attendance, Youth Conference volunteers and attendees.

Tips: Do it because you enjoy it, not because you get recognized (publicly) for it!

Goals: To become the one stop drop-in Youth center.

Additional information: Youth Center members get more than discounts, they get involved in and out of the center.
