Site Visits
This fall the PAYC Coordinator, Rachel Mason, visited youth councils at 19 Friendship Centres. The goals of these visits were to strengthen PAYC’s connection with local youth
councils and youth workers, to inform them about PAYC’s work, and to help them reach their goals for youth council development. At each visit, Rachel presented a workshop to the
youth councils which began with some information about PAYC and then continued with a warm-up/get-to-know you game. Following this introduction, each youth council chose
one of five youth council development workshops, including: Mission Statements, Project Planning, Fundraising Techniques, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution. Youth councils
engaged fully in these workshops, and many of them produced excellent mission statements, fundraising plans or project goals.
Commenting on the site visits, Rachel says “These visits are so much fun, because I get to meet with youth who are leaders in their communities and learn about their youth
councils. Thank you to all the youth councils and youth workers at every BC Friendship Centre for the warm welcome you have given me!” For more information, check out:
