PAYC Day
On February 4 th , 2004 , PAYC will host the second annual PAYC Day. On this day, Friendship Centre youth councils across BC will hold an event they think will benefit their community and help their youth council grow. PAYC will provide $500 to each friendship centre's event. There will be many different kinds of events, such as dinners, workshops, dances, and field trips. These events will publicize PAYC and help youth councils gain experience in event planning. If you're near a participating friendship centre on this day, be sure to attend!

Kelowna Friendship Society:
PAYC Day was a great opportunity for our youth to share their ideas and vision with the community. The youth put together a display for the public in the foyer of the centre which offered information on our youth advisory, youth programs, our Wolfs Den safe house, PAYC, and all the information that Rachel put together for our youth advisory. The room was decorated with balloons, stringers, and pictures of our youth advisory and some of the many programs we have offered. Youth slowly congregated through the afternoon where we moved our display, balloons, etc. upstairs for the evening activities which included ice breaker games, music, a little guitar, information about PAYC members and our youth advisory, and more questions directed at Kerry and Maria who were able to assist by sharing their knowledge as members.

PAYC Day went way better than I had expected. I had a blast with the Youth and I'm sure they enjoyed themselves as well. All the presenters did Awesome and the youth took really well to each of them. The youth displayed a great job in participating with the presenters as well. Lunch was a great hit too, we served Indian Taco's. We did a ticket raffle after the event to give away the Toques and coffee mugs as well. Thank you for this opportunity it was a worthwhile experience for us.

For the Survivor Game we had 5 teams, who did a variety of challenges which included seeing how many condoms each team could blow up and seeing which team could clean up the most garbage around the centre and are. The final round everyone participated in the jeopardy round which had questions about PAYC, Kermode, RESPECT Youth Council, RESPECT Youth Program and miscellaneous questions. A thank you dinner for the youth council members (past and current) was attended by 40 youth and 2 of our elders. The board members were very impressed with our youth council and how many of them are on our youth council, as one board member said “I have read the monthly reports and saw how many youth were involved with the youth council and youth program but before now I never saw how many youth those numbers actually represented”. When told this was only half the youth council and invited back when the full youth council was there he stated, “the youth that were attending was almost too many for me, wow I can see how much effort goes into working together with Respect for each other!”
