Megan Clarkson Megan is a 21 year old youth from the Sayisi Dene First Nation. She is a proud mother of one, a baby boy, and caregiver of her 8 year old nephew. Megan has spent all of her life in an urban setting on Vancouver Island and now resides in Victoria , where she works as a Youth Mentor at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre. She has spent the last 6 years representing youth in the Friendship Centre movement, and has sat as the BCAAFC Youth Executive Rep for the past year. Youth issues are a priority for Megan, and she hopes to stay in the Friendship Centre movement wherever the path may lead her in the future. “There was a time where I was down and out and I can honestly say that the Friendship Centre saved my life, and that's why I work hard to make sure that youth are heard and that we have a say in the direction and actions that the Friendship Centre movement takes. Friendship Centres will always have a special place in my heart, and it makes me happy to know that we are still going strong to serve the needs of our people now and for our future generations.” |
